I love to watch cooking videos.  I’m not a great cook, but I can do a few things well. When I watch these videos, I like to think I’m learning a little and improving my skill set, but really I’m mostly just enjoying watching the process.  There are a lot of great cooks on YouTube. Chef John at Food Wishes, Binging with Babish, and many more.

Adam Ragusea does some great cooking videos on YouTube.  I like the way he explains his reasons for the choices he makes, often bringing in scientific experts to explain the reasons why this or that works the way it does. In the video below, Adam does a great job of explaining why science is important.

Though I’m not a scientist, I am big fan of science. I think the best way understand any and all facets of the world is through the scientific method. Of course, we rarely have time to go through the whole process ourselves, so we have to take a shortcut, and trust the scientific consensus, the result of multiple research efforts, peer review, publication, and reiteration. I’m not a climatologist, but I accept the consensus opinion of that specialty on climate change. The same is true for evolution, vaccinations, the historicity of Jesus, and why anyone who doesn’t believe astronauts actually landed on the moon deserve a punch from Buzz Aldrin. Adam makes an important point in the video about the difference between earned opinions and unearned opinions, which he calls asshole opinions because everybody has one, and they stink. We shouldn’t care about anyone’s unearned opinion, even our own.  Watch the video and let me know what you think.

Yakkety Sax is Our Current Soundtrack

The Current Occupant is running around the White House, with the video sped up to a comic pace and every time the camera catches him doing something naughty, he turns to the camera, grins cheekily, and keeps going,  on to some other criminal and abhorrent behavior disguised as harmless mischief.  And his audience eats it up.

After promising to release a full, complete, unredacted, and unclassified transcript of the call with the leader of Ukraine, a summary has instead been released. At least Pelosi has finally decided it's time to seriously consider impeachment.

Things I Believe

In no particular order:

When Trump jokes about serving more than two terms, he isn't joking.

John Bolton leaving is good, but almost anyone willing to serve the game show host in the White House is likely to be just as dangerous, or worse.

So many of the ordinary things we do as we go about our everyday lives do more harm than good to our world. That said, I really do want the new Pixel 4XL when it comes out, and i want a new car, too. Do I contradict myself? Very well, then.

Breaking Bad is the best dramatic TV show ever.

More to come!

New York Judge James Troiano

New York judge James Troiano has criticized the family of a rape victim for pressing charges against the alleged attacker because he's a good boy, has good grades, and might amount to something someday.

Two really good guys, who might amount to something someday. presented here for no particular reason.

Mr. Kettle and Ms Pot

Kellyanne Conway doesn't think any man should step in to the race for the  Democratic presidential nomination because there are already women running.  Or maybe it is just Cory Booker she doesn't like. Story here.

My favorite part is the question she addresses to Booker:
“I’d also ask him what exactly you accomplished qualifies you to be commander-in-chief and president of the United States?” she said.

I doubt she has any idea how ridiculous that sounds coming from one of Trumps loyal lackeys.
